Adventure: The Black Church at Budir

We loved our honeymoon in Iceland so much that we couldn't wait to go back to see Iceland in the winter. Since we spent most of our last trip in the southern and eastern parts of the country, I knew that visiting the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland was at the top of my to-do list.

Sitting alone in a sea of mossy lava fields, the black church at Budir was built in 1703 but eventually removed due to lack of parishioners. The church was then rebuilt in 1987 after a single member lobbied to bring it back.
